Nigeria Integrated Reporting Committee (NIRC)
The Nigeria Integrated Reporting Council (NIRC) is a national coalition of regulators, investors, companies, Financial Reporting Council, the accounting profession and NGOs. The coalition is promoting communication about value creation as the next step in the evolution of corporate reporting.
Mission

The NIRC's mission is to establish integrated reporting and thinking within mainstream business practice as the norm in the public and private sectors in Nigeria

Vision
The NIRC's vision is to align capital allocation and corporate behaviour to wider goals of financial stability and sustainable development through the cycle of integrated reporting and thinking in Nigeria
Objective of National Integrated Reporting Committee

Integrated reporting on its own is a concise communication about how an organization's strategy, governance, performance and prospects lead to the creation of value over the short, medium and long term. Its objective is also to change the corporate reporting system so that integrated reporting becomes the global norm.

Leveraging on International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC) objectives as outlined by International Federation of Accountants (IFAC),

The objectives of NIRC are not limited to the following:

  • To improve the quality of information available to provider of financial capital so as to enable more efficient and productive allocation of capital
  • Provide a more cohesive and efficient approval to corporate reporting that draws on different reporting strand and communicates the full range of factors that materiality affects the ability of an organization to create value overtime.
  • Enhance accountability and steward for the broad base of capital (financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and relationship and natural and promote understanding of their interdependence.
  • Support integrated thinking, decision making and action that focus on the creation of value over the short, medium and long term.
